Glossary of Terms

Average Quarter-Hour (AQH): The number of users tuning into an online radio station for at least five minutes in an average 15-minute period of time (quarter-hour) during the reported time period. Tuning events of less than five minutes are not counted.

Cume: The number of unique people that tune in for five or more minutes during the reported time period. People who tune for less than five minutes are not counted.

Daypart(s): Time of day—in the listener’s time zone—during which tuning occurred.

Demo: The characteristics of the people listening to the online radio station. Standards demos include gender and age.

Online Radio: Radio programming transmitted over the Internet instead of the airwaves. Most online radio is either traditional radio stations simulcasting their signal or original stations broadcasting exclusively on the Web. Unlike traditional radio, online radio does not require a special receiver to access the content. Any computer with Internet access can be used to listen to online radio.
